🍀Crochet Shamrock Pattern (Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day Gifts)

If you’re looking for a simple, meaningful St. Patrick’s Day touch — this little crochet shamrock is it.

I originally designed this pattern for something special I create every year: my St. Patrick’s Day CAN (a surprise gift-in-a-CAN filled with playful treats and handmade details).

And the detail people comment on most?

The tiny shamrock tucked inside.

So today, I’m sharing the exact crochet shamrock pattern I use — whether you want to make your own handmade St. Patrick’s Day decorations or add a lucky charm to a gift.

🍀 Crochet Shamrock Pattern

Shamrock Leaves

Start with a slip knot and chain 4. Slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.

Chain 7, tr into the 4th chain from the hook. Continue down the chain. Dc in the next chain, hdc in the next chain, sc in the last chain and sl st into the ring.

Repeat 2 more times. For a total of 3 leaves.

Now working on the opposite side of the leaf working up the leaf. Sc in the 1st stitch, hdc in the next stitch, dc in the next stitch, tr in the next stitch, chain 3 and sl st into the same stitch as the tr.

Sl st down the center of the leaf 3 times then sl st into the center ring.

Repeat for the 2 other leaves.

Stem

Chain 7. Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook. Sc into the next chain, sl st to the end of the chain. Fasten off and make a second shamrock. Don’t fasten off the second shamrock.

Now you will sc the 2 shamrocks together. When you reach the top of the leaf where the tr is. *(Put 3 sc at the top of the leaf into the tr and then sl st into the sl st at the top, then 3 sc into the tr.) continue around the shamrock, and repeating the * at the top of each leaf. When you reach the stem fasten off leaving a long tail. Use a tapestry needle to sew the stems together.
